Opportunities to Engage Public Audiences

Americans for Medical Progress has several fellowships aimed to provide students and early career professionals with opportunities to engage in outreach.

Public Outreach and Education

The Michael D. Hayre Fellowship in Public Outreach, established by Americans for Medical Progress in 2008, promotes peer education about animal research among students and young professionals. Named in memory of AMP’s former Chairman, Michael D. Hayre, DVM, ACLAM, the Fellowship provides support for outreach and education projects in the United States. Learn more here.

The ACNP-AMP BRAD Fellowship is supported through a partnership with the American College for Neuropsychopharmacology for scientists in the fields of neuroscience, psychology, or pharmacology. Learn more here..

Communications and Science Policy

The John Young Science Policy & Communications Fellowship presents a valuable opportunity to explore the intersection of health research, science policy, public affairs, and strategic communications. Fellows will gain first-hand experience in shaping national dialogue around biomedical research involving animals, and navigating the evolving legislative, policy, and communications landscape. The CPDD/AMP Animal Research Policy Fellowship is supported through a partnership with the College on Problems of Drug Dependence. This annual fellowship is designed to cultivate the next generation of science policy advocates who are dedicated to promoting the essential role of animal research in addressing drug use, misuse, and dependence.
